W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono porównanie poziomu rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego w dwóch grupach krajów RWPG i EWG w okresie czasu 1970-1982.

Most papers dealing with the problem of equalizing the level of social-economic development are of a purely theoretical character and scarce statistical data are used but to confirm the presupposed theses This, as well as faint interest in such problems, but with respect to the EEC countries, motivated the studies presented in this paper, based on the methods of multidimensional comparative analysis. The studies covered the years 1970-1982 but the forecasting was done till 1990, The empirical studies were based on a set of 9 measures of the level of social-economic development, which afforded possibilities for the use of the methods of the multidimensional comparative analysis. The results seem to confirm the repeatedly announced thesis that the level of social-economic development of socialist countries is getting equalized. Different tendencies can be noted with the EEC countries which move away from one another. Only further studies can confirm the stability of the process of approximating or moving away of the EEC and the COMECON countries, with regard to economy, in the future. (original abstract)
