In recent years there has been a revaluation of the economic policy of countries with oil deposits in the Arab Peninsula. One of the aspects of this newly seen growth is changes in the field of financial services. Together with the continuing high price of petroleum (crude oil) and hence a wide inflow of petrodollars to these countries, new initiatives in government and the financial sector have appeared, widening the range of services offered in these countries. A characteristic feature of the transformations which are taking place in the financial sphere is an ever more visible process of specialization and differentiation of Arab countries. So for instance, Bahrain has concentrated on the development of Islamic services and primarily on the development of Islamic banks, while the Arab Emirates and mainly Dubai are developing commercial services, based on Western models, Qatar wants to secure financial resources for the development and exploration of recently found LPG gas deposits, Saudi Arabia is in the initial stage of a new development and Kuwait, for the time being, is not interested in the development of financial services going beyond those already possessed. The aim of this paper is to analyze the recent transformations which have taken place in the field of financial services in the countries with crude oil deposits. (fragment of text)
