Recently, in the Polish publishing market there appeared several books on environmental and natural resources economics . All of them are undoubtedly a valuable educational aid and are very helpful in academic education. However, it seems, for a number of reasons, that we still need a good coherent textbook in the Polish language. The existing textbooks by Polish authors (mainly lecture run offs published by some universities) are selective in their treatment of problems. They usually reflect specific fields of interest of their authors, e.g. the textbooks by S. Łojewski or T.Madej . The same could be said about the work of J. Śleszyński. It seems, however, that for Śleszynski's book more important thing is a less formalised approach from the point of view of the concepts and methodology of economics.(author's abstract)
