SaaS porównano z innymi rozwiązaniami umożliwiającymi optymalizację i racjonalizację kosztów na IT w przedsiębiorstwach. Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions are a new form of outsourcing, that involve providing IT applications as a service. Distribution of such solutions is a relatively new line of business which as far does not produce a very high income. During a global financial crisis, SaaS may prove capable of organizing more cost-effective IT structures and thus become more widely implemented. In this paper, the pros and cons of SaaS will be discussed against the background of a current situation in IT business. SaaS will be compared to other solutions enabling optimalization and streamlining of IT costs within a company, such as virtualization and "Service oriented architecture" solutions, which are focused on defining services that suit the particular needs of a user.(author's abstract)
