Employment Forecasts by Regions and Occupational Groups

The main objective of this article is a concise presentation of the process of forecasting the number of employees by voivodeships and groups of occupations in the horizon 2012-2020. The final results of this process are presented as well. To foresee the number of employed by voivodeships a multi-equation seemingly unrelated regression model (SUR), consisting of 16 equations, was used. In order to take account of the significant interactions between neighboring voivodeships, relevant explanatory variables in the form of spatial images were introduced to some of the equations. Forecasts of the total number of employed by voivodships were then used to predict the employment in major occupational groups in each voivodeship. (original abstract)
