Internacjonalizacja i globalizacja napędzana przez postęp naukowo-techniczny oraz potrzeba innowacji stanową tło zmian zachodzących w przemyśle farmaceutycznym. KTN-y z tej branży zdecydowały się na radykalne zmiany w organizacji B+R będące odpowiedzią na zagrożenie ich dominującej pozycji na rynku. Outsourcing jako forma współpracy z partnerem zewnętrznym zyskał na znaczeniu i odbywa się w wymiarze globalnym. (abstrakt oryginalny)

Internationalization and globalization are driven by progress in science and technology together with the need of innovation creating the background for changes in pharmaceutical industry. Consequently, multinational pharmaceutical corporations felt the increasing difficulty in maintaining their dominance on the market, which caused the reorganization of their R&D. Outsourcing as a form of partnering becomes more valuable and is now running globally. (original abstract)
