Abstrakty

System gospodarczy podlega w okresie ostatnich dekad gwałtownym przemianom, zarówno na poziomie gospodarki globalnej, jak i na poziomie przedsiębiorstw. Zmiany te są w głównej mierze wynikiem gwałtownego wzrostu tempa postępu technicznego, w szczególności rozwoju technologii teleinformatycznych. Zmieniają się warunki i formy konkurencji oraz współpracy przedsiębiorstw. Zmienia się ekonomika przedsiębiorstwa, a także zasady budowy i implementacji strategii. Coraz częściej podstawowym "tworzywem" zarówno w procesie zarządzania na poziomie operacyjnym, jak i w procesie budowania trwałej pozycji konkurencyjnej staje się wiedza i umiejętność zarządzania nią. Zdolność absorpcji wiedzy staje się kluczowym wyznacznikiem pozycji konkurencyjnej przedsiębiorstwa. (fragment tekstu)

Knowledge based resources are created in complex social systems and are difficult to imitate. That is why they may be a source of prolonged competitive advantage. What is essential in this context is not the knowledge resources themselves, but the ability to use them efficiently for decision making purposes. The way company is using the available knowledge is determined by its absorptive capacity, i.e. ability to search for new external information, to assimilate it and use in commercial applications. The concept of absorptive capacity is based on the assumption that prior knowledge is the prerequisite of being able to absorb new knowledge in a specific area. Absorptive capacity is cumulative. Lack of permanent investment in a knowledge base may permanently impinge upon the growth prospects of the firm. (original abstract)
