Według jej zasad decydenci oceniają losowe wybory względem pewnego punktu odniesienia (status quo), inaczej traktując odchylenia in plus (zyski) i odchylenia in minus (straty).
Investors follow different criteria in the valuation of their assets' allocation. The main aim of each investor is to achieve the highest gain in the future, but his decision is based on the past data. In the portfolio theory, the decision-making is based on the rate of return and risk. Such decisions are rational, but decision makers often do not act rationally. Therefore, different behavioural decision theories have been proposed. One of them is cumulative prospect theory proposed by Kahneman and Tversky. Their theory tries to explain the way the investors valuate random alternatives. In this article, we empirically analyze the investors' preferences expressed by rates of return and values calculated according to cumulative prospect theory. This research is based on the quotations from the Warsaw Stock Exchange. (original abstract)
