Purpose - The purpose of this article is an empirical verification of factors influencing changes of the value of recommended companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange. Design/Methodology/approach - The parameters of research models have been determined based on crosssectional data by means of least squares (cross-section regression) method. The value of the dependent variables has been calculated by means of event analysis method Findings - The presented findings prove that the share prices of companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange tend to react strongly and as expected to both the fact of issuing of a recommendation, and the extent of deviation between the recommended prices from market prices. Moreover, the results show that capitalization of recommended companies, their profitability and the amount of possessed liquid assets influence the change of the value of recommended companies in period 0-1 as a result of issuing of a recommendation. Originality/value - The obtained findings of the research lead to different conclusions than those gained from most of studies of effectiveness of stock recommendations on the Polish capital market so far. The study was the first to include methods of sampling and describing variables, which made it possible to verify the extent to which the deviation of recommended prices from actual prices, the extent of liquidity, profitability and size of a given recommended entity influence the change of the value of recommended companies.
