Abstrakty

W artykule przedstawiono powiązania handlowe między Unią Europejską a Japonią. Dokonano analizy obrotów handlowych w latach 1990-2002. Omówiono strukturę oraz uwarunkowania wymiany handlowej.

The article analyzes bilateral relations between the European Union and Japan in the field of merchandise trade. It is noticed that during the considered period (1990-2002) a significance of Japan for the EU and the EU for Japan as a trade partners has decreased. The share of Japan in total EU external exports and imports has declined significantly. Nevertheless, the European Union still has trade deficits with the partner, which is one of the main characteristics of their bilateral trade relations. The structure of the trade is a typical structure of mature economies: two-way trade in manufactured goods (with high share of high-tech products). An exchange of primary products is at a much lower level. Undertaken initiatives aimed at diminishing existing barriers in trade inflows to Japan are not so far very effective. (original abstract)
