Management of Catastrophic Risk and Risk of Terrorism
Realisation in form of a loss of both catastrophic risk and a terrorist attack that takes place in the city centre in rush hours brings about enormous economic losses (including those insured) to be borne. Such losses may amount millions or even billions of dollars. Danger of risk accumulation that might lead to potential accumulation of compensations paid as a result of many policies concluded answers the question why such risks are not easily insurable. Such risks do not usually form basic ranges of insurance for products sold by insurance companies. They are offered in broadened ranges or they are included in insurances by means of individual additional clauses. From the customer's perspective, it is better if the range of insurance in general conditions of insurance provides for standard coverage of losses that result from the above mentioned fortuitous events. A procedure of policy issuance is accelerated, costs of acquisitions are lower and as a result premiums for underwriting the above risks are lower than in case of including such risks in form of additional clauses by means of special consents.
