The aim of this paper is to analyze the management practices in small and medium Mexican companies SMEs in order to understand their actual needs and weaknesses; this study was based on literature search focused on a qualitative approach to find out information about how the company's performance can be direct toward competitiveness. With this in mind, we conclude that planning would be effective if it operates with funding and have strategies in all areas of the organization like sales, finance, marketing, taxes, in order to optimize all the available resources on the organization. Moreover, the company directors must be willing to break paradigms, learning and adapting to emerging markets, strengthening its competitiveness.(original abstract)
