Abstrakty

Transatlantyckie Partnerstwo w dziedzinie Handlu i Inwestycji (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, TTIP) to porozumienie negocjowane od lipca 2013 r. między Stanami Zjednoczonymi a Unią Europejską. Unia nigdy jeszcze nie negocjowała umowy handlowej o takim znaczeniu, dotychczas bowiem zawierane były układy ze znacznie mniejszymi partnerami i w zasadzie to oni musieli dostosowywać się do priorytetów, standardów i norm unijnych. Obecnie sytuacja jest inna ze względu na to, że Stany Zjednoczone charakteryzują się rynkiem porównywalnym do rynku Unii, a ich rola w świecie przyczynia się do obaw, że nowe porozumienie może znacząco naruszyć normy i wartości, do których kraje członkowskie są silnie przywiązane. Powstaje zatem pytanie, dlaczego Unia zdecydowała się wejść na drogę, która oznacza dla niej i jej członków liczne zagrożenia. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The Transatlantic Partnership on Trade and Investment (TTIP) will in all likelihood generate gains first and foremost for large multinational corporations engaged in investment and trade between the United States and the European Union. The agreement brings numerous threats to the countries of the European Union and might significantly weaken the competence of EU and national authorities in formulating policies in such areas as consumer protection or the environment. It will boost competition on both the EU and U.S. markets, undermining workers 'rights and resulting in a further délocalisation of production to countries with lower labor costs. If the ISDS mechanism is included in the TTIP, it will strengthen the position of corporations in disputes with governments. (original abstract)
