Abstrakty

Celem pracy była ocena warunków pobytu dzieci w wybranych polskich szpitalach ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zapisów Europejskiej Karty Praw Dziecka w Szpitalu. Badaniem objęto grupę 50-ciorga opiekunów przebywających wraz z dziećmi na oddziałach szpitalnych w Szczytnie oraz Łodzi.(abstrakt oryginalny)

Stay at hospital is indubitably a high-pressure experience for a child, therefore everything possible should be done to reduce the rate of stress. Hospital should create proper conditions, similar to those provided at home. A pediatric ward shall be in an environment designed, furnished, staffed and equipped to fulfill children's needs. What is the most important, children should have the right to have their parents or parent substitutes with them at all times. Thus special document titled "European Charter for Children in Hospital" was established. This special document was approved by 13 European countries, but it still to be ratified in Poland. The aim of the research was evaluation of adherence the rules and circumstances in particular hospitals in Poland to the regulations of European Charter for Children in Hospital.The results show, that the rules of "European Charter for Children in Hospital" are mostly obeyed in Polish hospitals. Over half of the respondents found sanitary condition in the hospital good or very good. In opinion of 2/3 of parents meals were appropriate to children's age. All of the respondents admitted that they were allowed to stay with the child at night and during doctors round. Vast majority (f=0,86) could also assist their child during medical procedures. Almost ¾ parents declared that information they received about children's health status were clear and exhaustive. However, in over a half of cases medical staff did not put enough attention to place children in hospital rooms with their peers. Moreover almost 1/3 hospitalized children did not obtain any information about their health status.(original abstract)
