Nagroda Nobla w dziedzinie ekonomii w 2015 roku dla Angusa Deatona z Uniwersytetu Princeton w USA jest uhonorowaniem dorobku wybitnego i nowatorskiego badacza, który dotąd pozostawał w cieniu innych amerykańskich ekonomistów uważanych za guru współczesnej gospodarki rynkowej. (...) Na swoje wyróżnienie Deaton zapracował publikując ponad 400 opracowań, dotyczących zarówno najbardziej podstawowych kwestii teoretycznych ekonomii, jak i nowatorskich badań mikroekonomicznych na poziomie jednostek. Niektóre z nich mogły się wydawać nazbyt szczegółowe, ale pozwoliły one Deatonowi sformułować szereg twierdzeń ogólnych, które weszły do kanonu współczesnej teorii konsumpcji i rozwoju.
