Abstrakty
While analyzing and briefly summarizing one of the laws, which belongs to the packet of anti-corruption legislature - the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption" - we would like to express our hope for the better. We believe that in 2015-2016 our country will eventually break the disgraceful bottom position in international anti-corruption indexes and will manage to improve its competitiveness in the global arena. However, we need much more than smart legislature to achieve those objectives: we need strong political will, self-control and political muscle; we need to restore social confidence in the government from the very start of the reforms; we need a higher level of awareness and more active citizenship to support state anti-corruption initiatives. Now we've got "yet another" anticorruption law - perhaps, it's time to remember the famous quote of Frederick the Great that bad laws in good hands are effective, whereas the best laws in bad hands are harmful and dangerous, It's time to stop picking holes in anticorruption initiatives and legislations and ultimately intensify efforts to prevent and effectively fight the corruption in our beloved Ukraine.
