The article is an international literature review focused on the SHARE data analysis of the social involvement of older people. The presented outcomes of the review indicate that social involvement may be an important predictor of health and more broadly of wellbeing. The article also presents the effective activation mechanisms of people in older ages and points out possible health inequalities that social involvement or lack of involvement may lead to.
