Abstrakty

Środowisko geograficzne współczesnych wielkich miast całego świata, charakteryzuje się dużym tempem przekształceń antropogenicznych, przewyższającym wielokrotnie tempo naturalnej zmienności geosystemów. W klimatologii dlatego rozróżnia się pojęcie "klimat miejski" będący specyficznym wytworem sił natury i działań antropogenicznych. Badania przeprowadzone w obrębie miast potwierdzają wysuwane wcześniej hipotezy, że wewnątrz obszarów miejskich wykształca się tzw. mezoklimat, zróżnicowany pod wieloma względami od wielkoprzestrzennego tzw. makroklimatu. Within the space of big cities there develops the so-called urban climate which is a product of forces of nature and of anthropogenic activities. Studies on this climate require the use of specific methods of measurement. The registered values of meteorological elements in urban environment often exhibit significant differences as compared to the values characteristic of non-urban areas. This is caused first of all by the increased emission of radiation, gases and solid bodies and by considerable concentration of artificial components of the environment (constructions of different shapes and heights, road and square surfaces). For the city inhabitants however urban climate is not entirely negative, although under specific weather conditions there may appear certain strains of human organisms. From the urban and plannistic point of view there exist possibilities of limitation and even elimination of the climatic problems in cities. Apart from the application of the so-called universal means for all cities, e.g. enlarging green areas, each case should be considered individually with respect to specific spatial-economic conditions for each urban area.
