Determinants of Banking Stock Return in Selected European Countries

Abstrakty
Cel - w pracy podjęto próbę zbadania stóp zwrotu akcji banków oraz ich wewnętrznych determinant. Metodologia badania - w analizy wykorzystano 25 banków z 6 krajów europejskich działających na rynku finansowym w latach 2006-2015. Został przeanalizowany wpływ czynników wewnętrznych, które pozwalają ocenić: rentowność, ryzyko wypłacalności oraz efektywność banku. Ze względu na charakter danych postanowiono wykorzystać statyczne i dynamiczne modele panelowe. Wynik - dotyczący badanych stóp zwrotów cen akcji dla sektora bankowego przedstawia się następująco: istotnymi czynnikami wpływającymi na stopy zwrotu są wskaźniki rentowności oraz efektywności. Nieistotnym determinantem jest natomiast współczynnik ryzyka (Tier 1). Oryginalność/Wartość - badanie stop zwrotów rzadko dotyczą sektora bankowego. Analiza skupia się na ostatnich 10 latach, a nie na okresie wokoło kryzysu 2007-2009. (abstrakt oryginalny)
Purpose - the paper attempts to study the rates of return the banks shares and their internal determinants. Design/Methodology/Approach - used in the analysis of 25 banks in 6 European countries in the years 2006-2015. The study has examined the influence of internal factors, which allow evaluate: profitability, solvency risk and effectiveness of the bank. Due to the nature of the data it was decided to use static and dynamic panel models. Findings - it was achieve the results concerning the return of banks' stock prices: significant factors affecting the rates of return are indicators of profitability and efficiency and the Tier 1 ratio is irrelevant determinant. Originality/Value - study about rates of return is rarely involve the banking sector. The analysis focuses on the last 10 years, and not around the crisis period 2007-2009. (original abstract)
