Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest syntetyczna prezentacja genezy i istoty liberalizmu klasycznego, który często jest utożsamiany z osiemnastowiecznym liberalizmem ekonomicznym. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono genezę pojęcia liberalizm, podjęto próbę wyjaśnienia znaczenia liberalizm klasyczny, a także wskazano najważniejsze postaci, których poglądy zdeterminowały kształtowanie tej ideologii. W drugiej części zaprezentowano fundamentalne kategorie pojęciowe konstytuujące założenia klasycznego liberalizmu. Obszar badawczy dotyczący historii myśli ekonomicznej i teorii ekonomii zdeterminował metodę badawczą tj. metodę badań literaturowych, metodę analizy oraz metodę opisową. (abstrakt oryginalny)

Although the liberal tradition dates back to the middle of the 18th century, still numerous dilemmas concerning definitions and concepts appear. The aim of the paper is the synthetic presentation of the genesis and idea of classical liberalism, which in the field literature is often identified with the eighteenth-century economic liberalism. The first part of the paper presents the genesis of the concept of liberalism, the meaning of classical liberalism and the most-important scholar whose opinions determined the emergence and development of classical liberalism. The second part of the paper shows the basic categories that constitute the foundation of classical liberalism, especially the principle of individualism, personal freedom and limited government. The area of research which concerns the history of economic thought and economic theory determined the research method used, i.e. method of literature research, analysis and descriptive.
