Investors have benefited over the years from the opportunity mutual funds offerings. May investors have relied on mutual funds as the one place in the securities industry where their interests were likely to get fair consideration? Although the monetary amounts that individuals have lost as a result of recent scandals is likely to be quite small, the blow to investor confidence has been enormous. This paper has sought to inform the reader about the problems and trends in the mutual fund industry, and to suggest some appropriate and practical remedies for the damages suffered by investors. In the next few years, the mutual fund industry might be stronger. The problems have shown that bad publicity can devastate firms that depend on investor trust. In a potential sense, the world economy stands to benefit from the financial innovative process. The market of mutual funds has high growth potential due to the increase in the outstanding debts of Polish people. The participation of mutual funds in the process of investment is still in a very early stage in Poland. (original abstract)
