Abstrakty
Szczególnym sygnałem do zwrócenia głębszej uwagi na rolę sektora finansów we wzroście gospodarczym był ostatni kryzys ekonomiczny. Jego punktem zapalnym były pewne rodzaje aktywności podejmowanych przez pracowników sektora finansowego, zwłaszcza w USA, oraz obarczone nadmiernym ryzykiem, które ujawnia się w pogoni za coraz wyższą stopą zwrotu z tytułu inwestycji, zwłaszcza portfelowych, a być może niedoszacowaniem tego ryzyka.
Przyczynek składa się z wprowadzenia, zakończenia oraz trzech rozdziałów merytorycznych. W pierwszym przedyskutowane są kwestie rozwoju finansów, definicji oraz pomiarów, w drugim w sposób zwięzły przedstawiona jest relacja między rozwojem finansów a wzrostem gospodarczym krajów z punktu widzenia teorii, jak i empirii. W trzecim zaprezentowane są wyniki własne badań autorki. (fragment tekstu)

The paper examines the relationship between financial development and long-run growth. The empirical results indicate that there is the threshold effect in the finance-gowth relationship. The findings reveal that more finance is not necessarily good for economic growth, and it depends of the quality of institutions.(original abstract)
