There are many tasks to be fulfilled by the use of the export credit insurance. Beside of the most important which is to secure the export organization against the risk of the foreign client's default the very important issue is the possibility to relate the use of the extended commercial credit terms with size of the margin earned on the given contract. The paper pays attention to the explanation of the relations between the size of the premiums charged for the special form of the short-term insurance cover named Europolisa by the Polish national export credit insurer - KUKE and the inflicted changes in the margin earned on the given export contract. It includes the basic form of the model describing the starting situation of the bargaining positions between the exporter and KUKE. Next the possible outputs to be derived from the starting situation are discussed. Finally the general method for the establishment of the model equilibrium points are presented. It gives the thumb rule for the decision making of the exporter interesting in finding the potential gains and losses of insuring a given contract. At the end of the paper the limitations of the applied analysis are presented and discussed. (original abstract)
