The aim of the article was to answer the question: are the investments made in logistics infrastructure during the preparation for Mundial, caused the real improvement in communication within the cities? The authors stated the hypothesis that transport investments occurred during the preparation for mass sport events are aimed only to improving communication and mutual availability between stadiums, airports and city centers (including tourist accommodation). They aren't really useful in satisfying everyday communication needs. That question is even more important when we take into account the government spending for investments related to event preparation. It is important to know a long-term effect of those spending. Are those spendings related to real improvement of life quality after the championships? That is a question about the usability of new constructed infrastructure in everyday life of citizens. The scope of research included only linear transport investments (the study did not take into account the construction of stadiums, airports and revitalizing the areas around these facilities) in 12 host cities: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Paulo. Rządy państw walczą o organizację masowych, międzynarodowych wydarzeń sportowych przede wszystkim ze względu na oczekiwane bezpośrednie wpływy finansowe do sektora prywatnego i publicznego. Drugą ważną przesłanką jest możliwość rozwoju infrastruktury, która będzie mogła służyć mieszkańcom przez dłuższy czas po zakończeniu imprezy. Jednakże inwestycje w infrastrukturę transportową realizowane na okoliczność sportowego wydarzenia są nastawione głównie na poprawę wzajemnej dostępności stadionów, lotnisk i centrów miast (ze względu na bazę turystyczną). Celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytania, czy poczynione podczas przygotowań do Mistrzostw Świata w 2014 r. inwestycje w brazylijskich miastach były użyteczne tylko na czas mistrzostw, czy może jednak poprawiły obsługę logistyczną codziennych potrzeb komunikacyjnych użytkowników tych miast i będą użyteczne w długim okresie? Badaniu poddano inwestycje, które znalazły się w planie przygotowań do Mundialu 2014 w 12 miastach gospodarzach: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Paulo. Pod uwagę wzięto tylko inwestycje transportowe liniowe (badanie nie uwzględniało budowy stadionów, lotnisk oraz rewitalizacji terenów wokół tych obiektów). (abstrakt oryginalny)
