EN

Thanks to US investment within last twenty years, Ireland became a modern country whose Atlantic location was converted into its big advantage. For centuries, the island was perceived as the edge of Europe, however at one point it became a bridge that joined the old continent and the United States. Ireland would be treated as a rather poor, provincial and closed country trying to overcome problems of unemployment and emigration. However, the country made a great use of the chance it was given. Why did US investors paid so much attention particularly to Ireland? Obviously the fact that the United States was home to seyeral million of Irish diasporas established due to many years of migration and constituting an important lobby group for foreign direct inyestments in their ancestors' country, was a very important factor. However, the reasons of Irish success in that respect are much more complex.(fragment of text)

W rozdziale tym przedstawiono najważniejsze czynniki lokowania amerykańskich bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych w Irlandii w ciągu ostatnich trzydziestu latach. Omówiono obecną atrakcyjność tej gospodarki oraz szczególnie interesujące sektory dla inwestorów. Przedstawiono również ocenę prób, jakie podejmują władze irlandzkie w celu utrzymania konkurencyjności swej gospodarki dla inwestycji zagranicznych przez ciągłe dostosowywanie się do zmieniających się warunków na rynkach międzynarodowych, w kontekście postępującej delokalizacji inwestycji do tańszych krajów Azji i Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej.(abstrakt oryginalny)
