Currently, in the market we are dealing with the transactions in the Internet with the participation of approx. 500 different virtual systems of currencies50, of which the most popular is a decentralized Bitcoin system. These projects - which are still in the experimental stage - are analyzed and gradually legal actions are taken in order to control the trading of that money. The aim of the article is to present events affecting the growing interest in virtual money by finding answers to the following research questions: 1. What are virtual currencies, how are they divided and defined? 2. What is the current state of bitcoin? 3. What are the opportunities and threats of trading Bitcoin? 4. What is the scope of regulation for Bitcoin? 5. What degree of control is suggested by banks? Key conclusion on virtual currency show that new form may spread and it has a chance to gain importance in everyday commercial transactions. (original abstract)

Obecnie na rynku mamy do czynienia z transakcjami zawieranymi w Internecie, z udziałem ok. 500 różnych systemów wirtualnych walut, z których najbardziej popularną jest zdecentralizowany system Bitcoin. Projekty takie, znajdujące się w fazie eksperymentalnej, poddaje się analizie i stopniowemu dostosowaniu do regulacji prawnych, aby ułatwić zawieranie transakcji z wykorzystaniem tego typu walut. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zdarzeń mających wpływ na rosnące zainteresowanie wirtualnym pieniądzem poprzez znalezienie odpowiedzi na następujące pytania badawcze: 1. Czym są wirtualne waluty, jak się je dzieli i zdefiniuje? 2. Jaki jest obecny charakter Bitcoin? 3. Jakie są szanse i zagrożenia związane z transakcjami przy użyciu Bitcoin? 4. Jaki jest zakres regulacji prawnych dla systemu Bitcoin? 5. Jaki stopień kontroli proponują banki? Główny wniosek dotyczący wirtualnych walut wskazuje, że nowa forma płatności ma szanse się upowszechnić i zyskać znaczenie w codziennych transakcjach handlowych. (abstrakt oryginalny)
