Abstrakty

Wydra morska to gatunek kluczowy w lasach wodorostów w morskich ekosystemach Oceanu Spokojnego. Na początku XX wieku gatunek ten został niemal wytępiony wskutek polowań z uwagi na jej niezwykłe futro. Restytucja tego gatunku jest uważana za największy sukces w ochronie ekosystemów morskich. Dzisiaj jednak wydra morska jest ponownie gatunkiem zagrożonym z powodu zanieczyszczenia mórz ropą, polowań orek na wydry i kłusownictwa. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The sea otter is a key species in the kelp forests in marine ecosystems of the Pacific. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the species was, almost extinct by hunting because of its unusual fur. The restitution of this species is considered to be the greatest success in the protection of marine ecosystems. Today, however, the sea otter is again a species threatened by oil pollution, killer whale predation on sea otters and poaching. (original abstract)
