Abstrakty

Osiem wieków temu Irlandia stała się pierwszą zagraniczną jurysdykcją common law. Jedną z nieoczekiwanych zmian prawnych w pierwszej dekadzie tego wieku było pojawienie się systemu common law w regionie o skrajnie odmiennym dziedzictwie prawnym - na Półwyspie Arabskim. Te młode jurysdykcje prawa precedensowego stworzone zostały specjalnie po to, by wesprzeć wzrost nowych centrów finansowych na Bliskim Wschodzie. Artykuł ukazuje na przykładzie wolnych stref w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich, jak postępowała recepcja prawa charakterystycznego dla krajów anglosaskich w tej części świata. (fragment tekstu)

Despite the spread of the common law system to many countries over the centuries, the Arab World had remained outside of its range, but this changed a few years ago with the creation of new financial hubs in the GulfStates. Those are based on common law jurisdiction, and this article examines common law functioning in United Arab Emirates free zones set up to attract foreign investments in the financial sector.
