The purpose of the paper is to examine development and present situation as well as perspectives and challenges for further development of Polish regional airports in the light of growing passenger air traffic and mobility rate of Polish society. The article presents research of regional airports and passenger air transport in Poland in years 1993-2016. Passenger traffic in comparison with regional airports capacity in context of infrastructural development will be discussed. Catchment areas and accessibility of Polish airports will be shown. Examples of regional airports oversupply and moreover Polish regions least communicated through air transport will be presented. As a result of the research, final recommendations and conclusions will be given in the light of further development possibilities of regional airports to avoid threat of oversupply and to face the challenge of traffic growth trend.
