Głównym celem niniejszego artykułu uczyniono ocenę wpływu stopnia nowoczesności portfela technologicznego przedsiębiorstw finansowych w Polsce na zapewniany drogą transferu dalszy rozwój ich potencjałów technologicznych. Jego realizacja, oparta na wynikach badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego w sektorze polskich przedsiębiorstw finansowych, ma pozwolić odpowiedzieć na pytanie: czy stopień nowoczesności dotychczasowego portfela technologicznego przedsiębiorstwa finansowego ma rzeczywisty wpływ na rozwój posiadanego potencjału absorpcyjnego i efekty jego zastosowania w transferze innowacyjnych technologii? A zatem: czy wykorzystywane dotychczas przez przedsiębiorstwo technologie faktycznie wyznaczają ścieżkę potencjalnego rozwoju przyszłych możliwości przedsiębiorstwa warunkujących zakres pozyskiwania i wykorzystywania nowych technologii? In contemporary economic reality, a company's technological development seems to be a necessary condition for its market success, thus it needs to be achieved. Although in an increasing amount of cases it is ensured by transferring ready-made solutions from external sources, its level is historically determined by the company's internal involvement in improving its absorptive capacity and technological portfolio. It thus does not depend only on managers' aspirations at a given moment or the company's financial situation, but on the extent of direct or indirect investments in its technological potential made so far. It turns out that lack of such investments in the past may inhibit desired development in the future. In this study, based on a survey results, the author makes an attempt to evaluate the influence of the modernity level of the technological portfolio of finance companies operating in Poland on the further development of their technological capacities ensured by means of transfer. The obtained findings confirm that the technological development in the finance companies' sector occurs in accordance with the path dependence concept, according to which the possessed knowledge and technological assets determine the possibilities for developing and enriching them in the future.
