The Role of Hedonic Motivation in the Process of Acceptance and Use of a Technological Product by the Elderly Consumers

Abstrakty
Celem artykułu badawczego jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań w obszarze identyfikacji i oceny roli motywacji hedonistycznej w procesie akceptacji i użytkowania przez konsumentów-seniorów wybranego produktu technologicznego. Do weryfikacji celu posłużono się badaniami własnymi przeprowadzonymi wśród słuchaczy uniwersytetów trzeciego wieku w okresie listopad 2014 - październik 2015 przy wykorzystaniu papierowego kwestionariusza ankiety. Jako przedmiot badań obrano technologię telefonów komórkowych typu smartfon. Pozyskane wyniki wskazują, iż połowa badanych konsumentów-seniorów odczuwa pozytywne emocje (radość i przyjemność) użytkując smartfony. Co trzeciemu konsumentowi- -seniorowi produkt ten dostarcza również rozrywki. W obszarze motywacji hedonistycznej wyniki badań pozwoliły na określenie, iż czynnik ten pełni silnie pozytywną rolę w procesie akceptacji i użytkowania produktu technologicznego przez badanych konsumentów-seniorów. The aim of this article is to present the results of the original research on the hedonic motivation in the acceptance and use of the selected technological product by the elderly. To verify the objective there was conducted a research among the elderly consumers, the Third Age University students, in the period from November 2014 to October 2015, and a hard-copy questionnaire was employed to obtain data. The smartphone mobile technology was chosen as the research subject. The results indicate that a half of the tested elderly consumers feel positive emotions (joy and pleasure) when using smartphones. This product provides some sort of entertainment to one out of three elderly people. The research results allowed determining that hedonic motivation plays a strong positive role in the process of acceptance and use of the technological product by the elderly consumers surveyed.
