The paper refers to problems of family business innovativeness in the context of cultural factors and their influence on innovations creation and implementation. The determinants of family business innovativeness have been discussed. The paper describes limitations and potential of innovation implementation, which are connected with specificity of family firms. Cultural determinants of innovativeness with regard of Hofstede's dimensions have been presented. The culture dimensions, which influence on family companies limit or stimulate their innovativeness, have been indicated. On example of German family firms' success, their innovativeness has been connected with cultural values specific for German society. Strong individualism and low power distance stimulate creativity and innovations implementation. Strong uncertainty avoidance limits creation and implementation of new ideas, and typical for German culture masculinity has neutral influence on this phenomenon. Economic success and innovativeness of German family firms are connected with strong influence of innovations stimulated culture dimensions and favourable market conditions. (original abstract)
