In different areas of everyday life, discussions arise on necessary spending cuts or better use of expenditures incurred with respect to their rational distribution, hence the decision-making regarding the management of business entities at the regional level force decision-makers to use economic calculation, in particular to take into account analysis of costs. This problem is important in relation to the health sector, which is considered as one of the most important sectors of the economy, while many of adopted solutions for the functioning of the health care system do not take into account the diversity of risks and adverse events. The purpose of this article was the application of the willingness-to-pay function for additional health insurance for Polish households. In accordance to households' economic and social conditions, the similarities and differences in the spatial distributions of the levels of probabilities of purchases were demonstrated. The probabilities of willingness-to-pay for the supplementary health insurance were determined on the basis of multinomial logit models, whereas spatial differences/similarities were verified with global and local indicators of spatial association and multivariate statistics techniques. The research was conducted for both macro level and sub-regions for period 2003-2015.(original abstract)
