A series of experimental sawings were carried out in the Barlinek Company S.A. of coniferous raw material in the form of logs into selected sawmill articles. The objective of these experiments was to determine the influence of hidden defects of the sawmill raw material on the yields of semi-finished products for the production of the Barlinek board. Productivity indices were established on the basis of theoretical computer calculations obtained from the "SAAB" production line software program and real sawings. The obtained results revealed some inaccuracies in the computer calculations resulting from the occurrence of hidden timber defects and indicated the need to introduce appropriate corrections in the obtained indices of productivity and production effectiveness.(original abstract)
