The paper analyses globalisation and integration and their influence on the world forest products trade. Trade is a major activity in the economy of the forest and forest products sector. About one quarter of the industrial forest products produced each year enter into international trade and this trade is valued at some 100 billion USD per year. Understanding the composition and behaviour of this activity is of vital importance to the decission-making, management and marketing of a substantial part of the industry. (original abstract)
