The level of socio-economic development of metropolitan regions within EU is substantially associated with the income generated by theirs citizens. According to Richard Florida (2002) the representatives of so-called creative class play a very special role in the development of these regions. They are highly qualified creative people who create innovative products of high added value. The author of the creative class concept shows that these people generate almost half of the budget of salaries in the U.S.A. The aim of this article is to present the level of differentiation of salaries within the creative class in the European Union, on the example of metropolitan regions of Birmingham, Leipzig and Poznań. These regions are characterized by different levels of socio-economic development and period of time as a member of the EU.(original abstract)
