In contemporary management studies innovation is treated as a novelty in a relative sense, i.e. as a new solution for a given entity and not necessarily for the others. Such an understanding of innovation leads to the conclusion that every employee can create it. However, the condition for this to occur is the existence of a favorable organizational climate. The aim of the paper is to identify the relationships between employee psychological safety, treated as a key dimension of the innovative climate, and manager behaviors expressing the authenticity of their leadership. The paper is based on the literature review and empirical study conducted among students. Results of the study show that links of the aforementioned constructs are significant. Although the teacher-student relationship is not perfectly equivalent to the manager-subordinate relationship, the analyzed phenomena are of a rather universal nature. Thus, we think that the study contributes to the theory of innovation climate and definitely inspires for further research. (original abstract)
