The main objective of this article is to connect the interactionist view to organizational creativity and task environment research to implications for firm performance. The framework represents an attempt to examine relationships between organizational creativity and task environment in a systematic and nuanced manner, with the objective of understanding why these interactions may advance firm performance. The article presents the development of the typology of five types of organizational creativity - task environment interactions producing different organizational effects. Collectively, the authors' arguments expand, and in some respects, challenge the theory of organizational creativity, and open new windows into the study of its relationship with firm performance.(original abstract)
