Analysis of Water Losses and Failure Frequency in an Urban-Rural Water Supply System

This article presents the results of analysis of an urban-rural water supply system. The level of water losses and failure frequency of the water supply system were evaluated. Tests and analyses of the level of water losses were conducted for the years 2010-2016. Tests and analyses of failure frequency were conducted for the years 2013-2016. The guidelines of the International Water Association were applied in calculations. Analyses showed an influence of season on the failure frequency of the urban-rural water supply system. An influence of the number of failures on the volume of water lost in a single failure was also observed. Obtained results were compared with data from domestic literature and the guidelines of standard PN-EN 60300-3-4:2008. (original abstract)
