Przeprowadzona w czerwcu 1948 r. reforma monetarna sprzyjała wzmocnieniu rynku finansowego i stanowiła bodziec do inwestowania.

As a result of the war defeat, West Germany ceased to belong to the great powers in the economic and political dimension. In the first years of the post-war period, the policy of Western occupying powers towards Germany was directed at preventing the economic rebirth of their current dangerous competitor. As a result of these efforts, West Germany rebuilt its economy to the pre-war level later than Great Britain or France. The unquestionable turnaround in the economic development of West Germany began in mid-1948. The stimulus for rapid growth in industrial production was the implementation of the monetary reform carried out by the Western Powers, as well as the inflow of funds under the Marshall Plan. The monetary reform carried out in June 1948 favored the strengthening of the financial market and constituted an incentive to invest. A similar influence on the West German economy in this period was influenced by the inflow of capital under the Marshall Plan. The fifties, especially the period 1953-1958, were later recognized as "golden years of the post-war period". At the end of this period, most of the war damage was removed and the economy was in a state of dynamic growth. In the period 1949-59, the average real GDP growth rate was around 7.4% with the average investment rate of 24.2% (in current prices). In the years (1950-53) a huge housing program was implemented, almost half financed from public funds. In the 1960s, there was a slowdown in the high rate of economic growth, which was on average around 4% per annum in 1961- 70. There were signs of recession in the economy, which led to the collapse of the government of L. Erhard and the seizure of power (1966) by the so-called big coalition (SPD and FDP).(original abstract)
