In this work we desribe results of our study on the effect of extraction time as well as the composition of the solvents used during the extraction of pot marigold (Calendula officinalis) flowers in order to obtain the information on the antiradical activity the extracts of a potential use in cosmetic products. We have investigated a various of ethanol - water mixtures as effective extrahents of antiradical components. The antiradical activity of Calendula officinalis flowers extracts obtained in such a way was evaluated for freshly obtained extracts by means of spectrophotometric determination of total phenolics and flavonoids content as well as using kinetics DPPH• radical assays. In our DPPH• radical kinetic assay it was observed that the antiradical activity of Calendula officinalis extracts determined by various methods strongly depends on the duration of the extraction process. It was found that initial rate of the DPPH• radical quenching in the presence of the extracts of marigold flowers obtained using various water-ethanol mixtures reaches a maximum value for the extracts obtained in the system containing only ethanol This result is in agreement with the results of total phenolics content determination in the extracts.
