The paper presents the effectiveness evaluation of modernization of the ST44 diesel locomotive based on the analysis of the Life Cycle Cost Analysis and the Cost-Benefit Analysis. The analysis was aimed at identifying measurable economic effects obtained thanks to the modernization of the locomotive in the 25-year period of operation. (original abstract)
