Defense administration consists of two elements. One of them is admini- stering in the armed forces and it concerns military administration, encompassing the organization and realization of processes geared towards a comprehensive fulfillment of the needs of armed forces in the area of means necessary to live and fight, whereas the other element encompasses the administering of defensive matters in a non-military subsystem of the defensive system of the country. The civilian and military aspects of national defense organization are tightly bound to each other with co-operation and co-ordination at a central level, and they are prepared to mutually support the other's actions in time of peace, external threat to the security of the country (crisis) and war. The aim of this article is to present tasks and competences in the terms of defense of the President, Government, field government administration and local government ad- ministration, as well as to show the tasks and structure of the military administration of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. In order to achieve the intended purpose, the present article was mainly based on the method of examination of documents, which enabled the collection, selection, description and scientific interpretation of legal acts of the Czech Republic regarding defense issues. The synthesis method allowed to demonstrate the most important properties of the defense administration and also ena- bled specification and presentation of conclusions at the end.(original abstract)
