Network of Civil Aviation Airports in Poland and its Perspectives

The purpose of the article is to present the analysis of validity of planned construction of the Central Communication Port, taking into account state and development prospects of the airport network in Poland. The work involved methods of system analysis and comparative analysis. In the first case, they were used in terms of scientific systematics to indicate the category of existing airports and the needs of the airport network in Poland. In the second case, a comparative analysis was carried out regarding the capacity of selected airports in Europe and in the world. Comparing these data with the dynamics of the development of the air services market in Europe, conclusions have been drawn which confirm the validity of planned investment. The article summarizes two important issues in aviation policy: the prospects for the development of the civil aviation airport network in Poland and the possibility of securing the airport needs of the dynamically developing air services movement. Poland has a relatively modern airport network, for which there is lack of passengers at some of the airports while other, such as the F. Chopin airport in Warsaw, are used to the limits of its capacity. The conducted analysis indicates that the planned investment in the Central Communication Port is justified both in the location, economic sense and impact on the development of regional airports in Poland.(original abstract)
