The Essence and Assumptions of the Industry 4.0 Concept in the Aspect of its Implementation in Companies in Lower Silesia
Języki publikacji
The modern world and the global economy undergo numerous and rapid trans- formations whose main driving force is the development of new technologies. New, pro- spective concepts for the functioning of industry and logistics are emerging, such as: Indu- stry 4.0 or Logistics 4.0. They assume an increase in robotization, extensive data exchange as well as automation and optimization of many real time processes. The effectiveness of implementing new business models and solutions in the field of digital transformation requires, above all, a full identification and understanding of their ideas and assumptions. An essential element of the conducted analyses is also to answer the question: how to introduce specific solutions and in what order, how to build these modern systems? In this sense, it seems to be reasonable to ask about new possibilities and functionalities which should be generated by prospective solutions implemented in industry, in order to fully secure the pragmatic implementation of these latest concepts. The article attempts to identify and holistically approach the factors determining the emergence of such solutions and their consequences. The aim of the study is also to indicate the trends and directions of changes in the functioning of modern companies related to the implementation of the latest technological solutions and emerging concepts. The reflections, confronted with the state of knowledge and involvement of Lower Silesian companies in the transformation associated with the Industry 4.0 paradigm, are designed to help these companies make rational decisions regarding the manner and scope of implementation of solutions resulting from digital transformation.
