Segmentation on the cruise ship market can be analyzed in various dimensions. On the one hand, due to the characteristics of persons travelling by cruise ships and, on the other hand, due to the characteristics of cruise tourist destinations and functions they perform on the cruise ship market. The aim of the work is to identify the segments of consumers on the cruise ship tourism market in the world and in Poland. In the work there were applied a cafeteria of research methods, including literature review and "desk research" with regard to foreign markets and surveys made on a group of 1400 cruise travellers visiting Poland. The results of the research and analysis enabled to make the segmentation of cruise travellers in the world and in Poland. Research has shown differences between consumers when it comes to their demographic profile, what has a great impact on their purchasing behaviour. The results are an interesting cognitive material both for tour operators in coastal tourist destinations, but also for other providers of goods and services offered to one-day visitors and tourists in coastal regions, for local authorities of coastal cities and the boards of seaports interested in development of cruise ship tourism market.
