The aim of the following article is to discuss EU - Arctic affairs. Article defines European Arctic as a region and shows its various types of influence on the whole High North. Author distinguishes 3 main periods of EU- Arctic relations analyzing reasons of Union's involvement. Paper is a summary of EU-Arctic relations within those 3 periods, with the biggest emphasis on the latest one. Article analyzes previous EU strategies such as Northern Dimension as well as current approach EU Arctic proposed in 2016. Author presents EU actions that supposed to lead into growing role in the region as well as critical position of some circles that are against EU's involvement in the High North. Author verifies hypothesis if European Union can become a key player in the Arctic. (original abstract)

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawieni relacji pomiędzy Unią Europejską, a regionem arktycznym. Definiuje on obszar Arktyki europejskiej i wskazuje na różne typy jego oddziaływania na cały obszar Dalekiej Północy. Autorka wyróżnia 3 główne okresy relacji UE- Arktyka analizując jednocześnie powody zaangażowania UE. Artykuł analizuje poprzednie strategie UE m.in. Wymiar Północny, jak również obecne podejście z 2016 roku. Autorka prezentuje konkretne działania Unii, które mają pomoc w zdobywaniu wyższej pozycji w regionie, ale także opinię krytyków sprzeciwiających się zaangażowanie Wspólnoty w Daleką Północ. Autorka weryfikuje hipotezę czy Unia Europejska może zostać głównym graczem w regionie Arktyki. (abstrakt oryginalny)
