The modern challenges of the world economy and conditions under which the state operates provide the opportunity to emphasize that competitiveness of national economy in the world market is the key determinant of the state's prosperity. The research is focused on the performance of competitiveness of the Irish economy in global rankings (IMD and WEF). The results thus obtained not only allow for demonstrating the ranking of Ireland, but also for determining specific factors of its economic growth as well as the ones which still should be improved. The study became a benchmark for recommendations to Irish economy in response to the current challenges related to the consequences of financial crisis, with the recommendations also aiming at ensuring the long-term growth.(original abstract)
