Artykuł ten identyfikuje podstawowe zasady systemu federalnego Kanady oraz analizuje ewolucję tego systemu od powstania do czasów współczesnych. Przyjęte w 1867 roku zasady zakładały niezależność ustawodawczą i wykonawczą władz federalnych i prowincji w określonych konstytucyjnie dziedzinach, ale stosunki federalno-prowincjonalne przybierały różne formy. Ewoluują one od centralizacji do decentralizacji. Autor wskazuje, iż współcześnie Kanada należy do najbardziej zdecentralizowanych federacji na świecie. (original abstract)

This article analyses the fundaments and the evolution of the Canadian federalism. This principle was adopted in 1867 and provides a foundation for spheres of jurisdiction of federal and provincial governments. The system evolves form centralization and decentralization. Author argues that today Canada is one of the most decentralised federation in the world but it needs adjustment. (abstrakt oryginalny)
