The paper presents a method of selecting the parameters of external involute spur gearing components with straight and helical teeth for general - purpose gears, using the method of searching an area of possible solutions, understood as a space for values that meet several geometric, strength and operating criteria. Possible effects of this method in the context of gear production process organization and optimization, were also described.(original abstract)
